In the context of the global automotive industry's transition towards new energy, especially pure electrification, Audi and its long-term Chinese partner FAW jointly established a specialized new energy joint venture company, Audi FAW New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., at the end of 2020.
The Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Project is Audi's first production base in China dedicated to producing pure electric vehicle models. It will introduce a high-end PPE electric vehicle platform, construct five major process workshops including stamping, welding, painting, final assembly, and battery, and design an annual production capacity of 150000 vehicles in the first phase. It is planned to be completed and put into operation before the end of 2024.
Project Introduction Diagram
As the core of Audi's promotion of electrification and localization in China, the Audi FAW new energy vehicle project has widely applied digital technology in its construction, which has accelerated the pace of construction. For example, the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) management system ensures engineering efficiency and quality, forming a complete monitoring to execution loop. The 3D laser scanning technology can obtain high-precision point cloud data of the construction site, which facilitates engineers to adjust and optimize according to the actual construction situation at any time. Meanwhile, based on digital technology, construction experts in Ingolstadt can achieve remote access and collaborate with on-site personnel at any time.
